am

so

glad

that

these

markets

are still

open and alive,

hustling and bustling.

Alive is the word

that springs to mind.

Old wine in an old bottle,

but somehow brings new light, new life

into these dead spaces.

Like wine with some warmth and some spice

puts huge smiles on empty faces.

For what is Christmas, if not a time each year

for something mulled, some things mulled over.

The markets come and they disappear each year,

but at least they leave us each time,

with a few more hazy smiles to remember.
